Iznik pottery production goes back to the fifteenth century and is named for the place where it began in Turkey. When the Ottoman Empire built the Topkapi Palace and needed wall tile decoration, the artists moved to Istanbul. This image is inspired by the fabulous encrusted ceramic tile covered walls, found both inside and outside many of the Topkapi Palace buildings. Inspiration Location: Istanbul, Turkey.
