I once visited Morocco. I got a silly little checklist in my head. I wanted to: (1) ride a camel, (2) wear a camel, and (3) eat a camel. Who knows how the human mind comes up with these things? But it popped in my head and wouldn't leave. Long and short of it, I went to Marrakech, which was too far away from the Sahara Desert to have camels just randomly hanging around. I let it go and didn’t think about it again. Fast forward to right now and my trip to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

And then, the camels showed up -- really showed up. Everywhere!

This was just a regular old walk back from the restaurant to our room at the Dubai desert resort.

At the Dubai Desert resort, there are camel statues all over the place.

I sure hated to say goodbye to the lobby camel statues at checkout. Back to Dubai city, leaving the serenity of the desert (and camels) behind.
